Congratulations! You survived Cancer. And since you know how it feels to be in a stage where you are wrapped with a disease all the time, you are very much eager to help others who are struggling and in a battle with any kind of disease. There pops an opportunity where you are asked to donate blood. But hold on! For you have had cancer before you can’t donate blood to the other person. But don’t be disheartened as there are certain exceptions to the above mentioned rule.
1) If it’s been more than 5 years that you are cured and there has arisen no symptoms of cancer again in your body then you can surely donate blood with a prior approval from you physician.
2) Majority of blood donation campus ask the cancer survivors to obtain a letter from their physician which mentions that the person is completely cure and now he or she can donate blood to other person.
3) If anyone has had leukemia, lymphoma and liver cancer then she/he cannot donate blood to other person.
4) Also, no blood donation is accepted from cancer patient who are undergoing treatment or at the last stage of treatment.
5) If someone has had basal cell skin cancer before but now if that has been cured completely and the wounds too have been healed then she/he is allowed to donate blood.
6) If someone has had a pre-cancerous condition in his/her body but after its treatment, in the follow up test, the body did not show any abnormal cells then that person too can donate blood.
Make sure to ask the physician before donating blood. If the response is positive then surely you can help a life to nurture again and in case if you receive a negative response then always encourage your friends and family to take an initiative for the great cause of blood donation.
